Another good day.

It's always a good day when I get to clean the windows at the home of a good friend, especially when they feed me. This first pic was taken from the inside looking out before I washed it.

I finished my biggest commercial job ever today with three full days at The Gladney Center in south Fort Worth. They have beautiful facilities and it is evidently a first rate place to work and also to adopt a child. I have been wanting to clean those windows for a while and everyone seemed to be very pleased with the results.

Least and most

This is the least amount of glass I have ever cleaned since I started this job but also the most meaningful.  It is the baptistry glass at the church where I pastor and it will be used for the first time since I came there for baptism this coming Sunday.

That's nasty!

In technical window-cleaning jargon, we call windows like this...icky.  Months and years of being pelted by the well-water sprinklers had caused as much build-up as I have ever seen.  It took a while and some extra expense but I got 'em spotless.  You'll have to believe me since I forgot to take any "after" pics.

Mall window

This is one of the windows in the Granbury Square Plaza.  This picture was taken back in February the last time I was down there.  I did them again this week but now there is a girlie resale shop, excuse me, consignment boutique (evidently they are sensitive about that) in the same area.  I did inside and out and so I moved all the dresses and purses and shoes out of the way to do the inside.  As I was putting it all back just the way I found it, I thought with my luck this is just when some hot gal would walk by and think I work there.  Hmm...on second thought that might not be too bad.

I'm moving into a house that has sat vacant for at least 6 years.  I'm quite sure it has been much longer since the windows were cleaned and it's torture for me.  As you can imagine I'm a "window kinda guy" and for me to live in a house with stained windows tears me up.  You see, after a few years of neglect even a pro can't fix a window that has serious stains embedded in the glass.  Oh well, at least the bush hides it on the outside.

Sometimes you just want to do something nice for somebody and he pays you anyhow.  I'll buy dinner next time, D.T.!

The owner of this mall in Granbury wanted all the glass to look good before they started decorating for a bridal fair this weekend.

It takes more than Windex and a rag to make this kind of difference. A little bit of skill and the right equipment is the difference between "good enough" and "perfect".

How's this for clean?

Are your windows this clean?  Mine are.  I cleaned my own windows yesterday with a special concoction of my own creation.  Little bit of this, little bit of that, little bit of elbow grease and...voila!  As you can see on that bottom window with the security company sticker on it the window is down it just looks like there is no glass in the pane.  I would love to do the same for your house or business.  Give me a call! 

Not a bad way to make a living.

I have the most fulfilling job I have ever had!  I've said it before but I know I'm not curing cancer and I'll never get rich but there is something to be said for working hard for an honest wage.  I met the nicest people today and it was a joy to work for them cleaning their windows today.  All 50 of them!  Yes, I'm tired but it is such a good feeling to know I helped someone and that they were truly grateful for the effort.  They even fed me lunch and sent some home for tonight's dinner.  Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Trice for a wonderful day at your beautiful house!  Thank you Mr. Trice for your military service.  It was an honor to meet you.

Good to know...

In my line of work I see people do crazy things and thought this would be helpful.   13 things your burglar won't tell you!

1. Of course I look familiar. I was here just last week cleaning your carpets, painting your shutters, or delivering your new refrigerator.

2. Hey, thanks for letting me use the bathroom when I was working in your yard last week. While I was in there, I unlatched the back window to make my return a little easier.

3. Love those flowers. That tells me you have taste... And taste means there are nice things inside. Those yard toys your kids leave out always make me wonder what type of gaming system they have.

4. Yes, I really do look for newspapers piled up on the driveway. And I might leave a pizza flyer in your front door to see how long it takes you to remove it..

5. If it snows while you're out of town, get a neighbor to create car and foot tracks into the house. Virgin drifts in the driveway are a dead giveaway.

6. If decorative glass is part of your front entrance, don't let your alarm company install the control pad where I can see if it's set. That makes it too easy.

7. A good security company alarms the window over the sink. And the windows on the second floor, which often access the master bedroom - and your jewelry. It's not a bad idea to put motion detectors up there too.

8. It's raining, you're fumbling with your umbrella, and you forget to lock your door - understandable. But understand this: I don't take a day off because of bad weather.

9. I always knock first. If you answer, I'll ask for directions somewhere or offer to clean your gutters. (Don't take me up on it.)

10. Do you really think I won't look in your sock drawer? I always check dresser drawers, the bedside table, and the medicine cabinet.

11. Here's a helpful hint: I almost never go into kids' rooms.

12. You're right: I won't have enough time to break into that safe where you keep your valuables. But if it's not bolted down, I'll take it with me.

13. A loud TV or radio can be a better deterrent than the best alarm system. If you're reluctant to leave your TV on while you're out of town, you can buy a $35 device that works on a timer and simulates the flickering glow of a real television.

8 more things he won't tell you!

1. Sometimes, I carry a clipboard. Sometimes, I dress like a lawn guy and carry a rake. I do my best to never, ever look like a crook.

2. The two things I hate most: loud dogs and nosy neighbors.

3. I'll break a window to get in, even if it makes a little noise. If your neighbor hears one loud sound, he'll stop what he's doing and wait to hear it again. If he doesn't hear it again, he'll just go back to what he was doing. It's human nature.

4. I'm not complaining, but why would you pay all that money for a fancy alarm system and leave your house without setting it?

5. I love looking in your windows. I'm looking for signs that you're home, and for flat screen TVs or gaming systems I'd like. I'll drive or walk through your neighborhood at night, before you close the blinds, just to pick my targets.

6. Avoid announcing your vacation on your Facebook page. It's easier than you think to look up your address.

7. To you, leaving that window open just a crack during the day is a way to let in a little fresh air. To me, it's an invitation.

8. If you don't answer when I knock, I try the door. Occasionally, I hit the jackpot and walk right in.

I love happy customers!

We recently had Sonlight Window Cleaning clean the windows in our home and could not be happier with the quality and excellent service we received.  Todd was courteous and made the process extremely easy.  He was very prompt in returning calls and quicly set up a convienent time to clean the windows.  He was attentive to detail and insured I was happy with his work.   When he left, my windows looked fantasic, I felt like I was living in a new house.
