Another happy customer!

Dear Todd,
I wanted to surprise my wife with clean windows for the holidays.  You did the job in nothing flat and the difference was amazing.  When my wife saw the result, she literally squealed in delight.  You didn’t miss any detail.  You not only cleaned the glass, but the screens and exposed window framing.  I can say to everyone, you might think your windows are clean, but after seeing how they look after a professional cleaning, you’ll never do it yourself again.

Good morning Sonlight Window Cleaning

Just wanted to tell you how awesome my windows look after you cleaned them. We had family from California for Thanksgiving , everyone wanted to know when did I have time to clean my windows with preparing the meal & all. I just smiled & said "Sonlight".
Thank you so much for the job you did. Todd was very courteous & even cleaned my window sills.
Not many people go above & beyond these days but Sonlight did.
Thank you again for my clean windows.

Todd,
I wanted to thank you for coming out to clean my windows. (and thanks for working around my schedule). You know how bad they were when you got here, they are crystal clear now. We couldn't even find evidence that you were out here, except now it looks like someone has put new glass in all the windows.

Good job, great price... We will definitely be using you again.

Sonlight Window Cleaning came to my rescue.  I don't have a lot of windows
but the ones I do have were extremely dirty.  My husband and I were
expecting company and wanted to make a good impression.  I called
Sonlight, & told Todd what I needed.  He was more than happy to oblige.
The work on the windows was amazing as we have an older home with windows
that take special treatment.  It was nice to sit in our family room with
our friends and be able to actually see outside through our newly cleaned
windows.  I recommend Sonlight for everyone!  Todd is efficient,
reasonable priced and funny!  (The jokes are free!)

Museum windows

The outside windows were fairly easy to clean.  The inside windows were more difficult because of all the nicknacks and trinkets in the gift shop.  Thankfully I didn't knock anything over while cleaning.  I did give General Lee a salute.  No, Bo and Luke, not that Gen. Lee, the real General Lee.  Well, a statue of the real General Lee.
Oh, I also got to clean the windows next door.  Lotsa practice.

A good day.

It's going to be a long time before I get rich cleaning windows but it sure is a good feeling when I hear, "Thank you so much!  You did such a good job.  Some people hurry through but you took your time and it shows.  Thank you again!"

Did you hear that at your job today?

Another reference!

The difference is AMAZING!!!  I never realized how truly DIRTY my
windows were!  We have storm windows, and Todd cleaned them inside and
out, window sills and screens included!  It feels like my house can
BREATHE again!  Thank you, Todd!!!

A good reference!

Sonlight Window Cleaning did our embarrassingly dirty windows.  They haven't been cleaned in years.  We have both screens and storm windows which made the work much harder.  The screens were also cleaned.

We have kept the blinds and curtains closed until Todd Blair with Sonlight cleaned our windows.  After having our windows cleaned we now look out and see our neighborhood as a much prettier place to live than it had seemed!

Perhaps Todd worked especially hard on our windows because we also fed him lunch!  He cleans his plate just about as clean as he cleans windows.

We are pleased and have already recommended him to several others.  Our next door neighbor also used Sonlight and are very pleased.

Tax or no tax?

Lots of people ask about the taxability of window cleaning.  Great question.  You should ask about it.  The only answer to the question (at least in Texas) is yes, it is taxable.  According to Rule 3.356 of the Texas State Comptroller, window cleaning, whether commercial or residential, is a taxable service and anybody that wants to clean your windows should have a Sales and Use Tax permit with the state of Texas.  The rate of tax is 8.25% anywhere in the state.  The customer (you) is required to pay 8.25% of the window cleaning fee to the service-provider (me) and the service-provider is required to remit that tax to the state.  Those are not my rules and if anybody claims anything different you should avoid using their services.

This was an enjoyable house to work on today.  It's a rent house and the landlord knew what a cost-effective difference clean windows would make and gave me a call.  The weather was perfect.  The house was empty.  No ladder work to speak of and nobody home.  The poor windows and screens were screaming my name but by the end of the day you could just hear 'em saying, "Aaahh!"

I got completely through and put everything away and was about to drive off when I realized I hadn't cleaned the half window above the front door!  Everything comes back out.  I climb the ladder, wash, scrape, scrub, dry, chamois and inspect.  Put everything back in and finally go home.  It's a little window and maybe the owners wouldn't even have noticed if I hadn't gone to the extra time and trouble but that's not the way we do it around here.  I'm sure glad I caught it.

Windows! Windows!

It's game 2 of the World Series.  Rangers are down 1-0.  San Fran's best hitter is up to bat and Manager Ron Washington calls the bullpen and asks for...you?  Now, you might be a pretty good pitcher.  You might have even played some ball in school.  But are you, yes, you, sitting on the couch watching the game, are you the best choice for a professional baseball team?  Probably not.

This Little Caesars Pizza in River Oaks was a pretty easy job.  Anybody could clean the windows of this place.  The problem is somebody prior to my cleaning them had evidently tried to clean them with a degreaser or some other caustic chemical and a large section of one of the windows was permanently stained and cloudy.  I got the dirt, adhesive and excess paint off the windows but even I couldn't fix the stain.  So, next time, leave the window cleaning - and the baseball - to the pros!

Beautiful house, beautiful day!

This beautiful house was surrounded by woods and open pasture and was owned by a very nice couple.  Combined with a beautiful day, it was a joy to work on.  I didn't want to leave.  Plus I had Diva there to help me!

Another satisfied customer!

As I was washing the windows at my parents' house my mother said, "Oh, Todd, when you get through I'm just gonna say halleluiah!"  So here's the finished product.

Outtakes!

How clean, Todd?

People who have never had their windows cleaned professionally invariably fail to understand why they should pay money for something they can do themselves.  Conversely, it is very clear (get it, clear?) to people who have paid a professional to clean their windows why they should do so every six to twelve months.  I hear people say all the time that they just use Windex and a rag and it works great.  Why should they hire somebody to do that?  Let me explain.

Under a microscope, you can see that glass is not smooth at all.  It has millions of tiny bumps, undulations and crevices not unlike the moon's surface.  Each of those bumps reflects light differently.  Using a rag, one cannot remove all the water from the surface of the glass in each of those crevices and that water reflects differently and at all angles causing a slight "filmy" look to appear.  It is also very difficult to remove all the streaks that even Windex leaves behind without using a squeegee.

Add to that the fact that professionals such as myself use special steel wool on the outside especially and also clean the screen and window tracks and sills on a typical cleaning.  Using special techniques and the right equipment make all the difference when you want more than "pretty clean".

How much, Todd?

People ask me all the time how much I charge to clean windows.  It's a perfectly reasonable question that is sometimes difficult to answer and here are some reasons why.  First, I need to know if you want me to clean inside and outside or just the outside.  The outside is usually much more time-consuming since on houses there is usually a screen and the outside is dirtier and sometimes harder to get to.  Also, do you have storm windows or double panes because those are double pains to get clean.  Is there alot of furniture to move inside?  Do you have kids or dogs that are going to bite me?  Two story house or only one story?  Are you a jerk?  All of those things can factor in so it is hard to give an estimate without looking at the house.

All of that being said you can estimate (very roughly) about five to seven dollars per window for inside and out of a house.  Consider though that estimates are free and I would be glad to come to your house to look at it with no obligation whatsoever.  I clean the windows, screens, and sills until all parts of the window are making you happy.  Give me a call.  I promise you it is money well-spent!

I can't pronounce it but their windows are clean.

I gave this gentleman an excellent deal on cleaning his windows and I have to say I did an excellent job.  I scrubbed all the windows and on the outside I went back over it with real fine steel wool and then made sure there were no streaks from top to bottom.  I got the adhesive residue off the door and above the door as well and cleaned up from where the last guy tried to clean them.  It was a job I was proud of and so I tried to tell the owner but as so often happens there was a language barrier.  He didn't understand "adhesive", in fact, he might not have understood "door" but that's okay.  If my name is on the work it will be done right and at least my blog friends will know that even if the owner doesn't fully appreciate it.  The food smelled good, though, so he's doing what he is supposed to do.

Why windows?

Several people have asked me why I started a window cleaning business.  Of all the different things, why windows?  There are several reasons and the most obvious and simple reason is, of course, to make money but there are several other more involved reasons.  First, this is not as much a window business as it is a people business and I like people.  I am not a sit-behind-a-desk kinda guy.  I would rather meet new people and make new friends.  It's also a good feeling to know that I helped somebody.  At the end of the day I can look at something I did and be proud of the effort.  If I make a living at it then at the end of my life I'll know it was for something good.  It's not a bad life!

And here are some pictures of some of the beautiful houses I worked on this week.

We have our five!

Thanks to everybody who contacted me but we now have the five winners of the $25 special.  Maybe we will do it again soon.  And I may regret it completely!  Check back to see other specials and info.  Thanks, Todd

Special Startup Offer!

To help jumpstart things I am going to make a very special, one time only offer and only to the first five people who email me.  Here's the offer:  I will come to your home and clean all the windows of your house for only $25.00.  This includes removing the screen and cleaning it on both sides, inside and outside of all the windows and thoroughly cleaning the sill and frame.  This is the complete package for only 25 bucks no matter the size of the house!

Why would I do this?  In getting this business started, I need references to show other people.  Word of mouth is always the best and hardest form of advertising to get.  I may use a picture of your house or a good quote from you in my other advertising.  I know that once people see what a difference professionally cleaned windows make they will tell their friends and that all adds up to more business for me.

There is no catch.  No hidden costs or anything else to pay (although there is sales tax on top of that for a whopping grand total of $27.06) and there is no contract real or implied.  I can only afford to do this for the first five people who email me so (read this in your best announcer voice) "be the first one on your block".

Getting a business started is a full time job!

Who knew it was so time-consuming getting everything together to start starting a business? Hopefully this blog will help answer questions people have as well as show who I am and what I do. I'll start putting up some testimonials here pretty soon from clients but for now here is a picture of the Lake Worth Staples freshly cleaned by Sonlight Window Cleaning!

Welcome

Welcome to the Sonlight Window Cleaning Blog. My name is Todd Blair and I am the owner. I clean residential and commercial windows perfectly, quickly and inexpensively. The name Sonlight represents my goal in having not only clean windows for the sun to shine through but also my attitude that hopefully shows the Son, Jesus Christ, shining through as well.

I work in North Texas and truly enjoy the feeling I get when I leave a house or business and I know I have made a difference. Hey, it ain't curing cancer but as Albert Sweitzer said, "A man can do only what he can do. But if he does that each day he can sleep at night and do it again the next day."

Call or email for prices.
